It's interesting...this is the first time I've played a female character in an MMO (as a main, at least), and I assumed I might have some problems along these lines. But I haven't, not one bit.

Honestly, I feel like there is a large amount of stupid involved. 'Oh shit that catgirl is hot, oh and with that name, its probs a girl, I think I'll FUCKING HARRASS HER FOR A WHILE'. As a lalafell, they don't get past the first step. :D

You're lucky Wales, if you stayed as that big bad Roe mama I was gonna start hitting on your avatar  :rek:

Yeah Lala's do have the bonus of appearing gender neutral at a distance.

No wonder genuine girl gamers are hard to find  :rek: !!!!

Yesterday, I had a pm from a stranger saying he wanted to hug me...I replied with "bitch slap" text, the not long after he messaged me it was a mis tell. Why I find it not is so convincing  :colbert: . And to conclude our conversation, I finished with a "Double bitch slap" tell  :P ...

I think I've whinged to Tiger a lot in the recent past already about how creeped out I am with certain people I run into in this game. But it's not the game's fault, just the people and how they choose to interact with other people over the internet.

I'd LOVE to see how these people interact with real people and real females face-to-face.

Humm I think FF is probably the best game for not being harassed in. I remember runescape days where being a female people would follow you for hours creeping on you and giving you free shit (awesome). Maybe its because I was a lala and people don't creep on them since they look about 5.
Haven't been catgirl but it was amusing being catboy and have people call me guy and dude and insult me for being a dumb guy, generally if you play a guy character I feel people are more likely to insult you faster? But that's probably because less females play male characters than males play females.

Tiger's problems of being mistaken for a guy are nothing compared to Kaane's, he regularly gets mistaken for an old man!

Just to go back to the last page about people more likely to help women with a broken down car on the side of the road. I'm sure this was done with varying levels of 'hotness' as well.

But another experiment someone did that was pretty crazy:
A bike was chained onto a bench in a park.
When a couple of people were nearby, either a black teenager or attractive women went up to the bike and tried to hacksaw through the chain.
The black kid was stopped almost immediately (Sometimes before) and sometimes even held onto while someone tried to call the police.
The women just got a couple of looks, and even had people helping to cut the chains. Whenever asked if it was her bike she said "No, I just want it".

I'm not really sure why this is a thing, a girl plays video games: cool.   Gamergirl happens to be hot: cool. Not like most creeps get to even see anyways. To me, there would be no difference if someone I'm interacting with over an online game is female or male. And I think people that do make a big deal out of this are creeps.

Doesn't make any difference to me, played half a dozen mmos now in such a way that I was involved in a guild plus its voice chat.

It's nice to hear the occasional female voice over the endless dry sausage fest but thats about it.

Come across some real creepers in my time playing wow, gkick and block type creepers whom have made some poor lass's lives hell in what I can only assume is some reverse psychology bullshit where they have got it into their heads that by being a total douche they assume said female would fall hopelessly in love. The seemingly impenetrable wall that is the internet seams to create monsters out of some special individuals.

Been mistaken a few times for a member of the opposite sex with my girly names/characters, Venom you still owe me that dinner.

I think that's like when you're 5 and you decide the best way to gain someone you likes attention is by throwing mud or pushing them over.  Hella guilty of that!
