Yesterday I bought a Vita
« on: March 11, 2014, 11:41:31 AM »
I'm not even really sure why. PS4 has no good games to remote yet, and Vita doesn't exactly have a raving library.
Waiting on FFX and FFX-2 I guess, plus the promise of playing FFXIV remotely. Crafting bitch. This is how I'm gonna get this done.

Otherwise I think it's Crash Bandicoot and Abe's Odyssey ^.^

Can anyone recommend any good games?

soul sacrifice is a game where a magic talking book takes you on a journey to discover the soul crushingly depressing story about how the apocalypse happened and battle horrifying monsters with maddening & bizarre art design

don't be a pussy, he looks legit

the gameplay can be a little stiff and it's hard as hell, but there's nothing else quite like soul sacrifice. check out the demo if you're interested, it's actually pretty lengthy if I recall. the game also does multiplayer, so we could do some co-op if you pick it up

You seriously need to reconsider this. $75 a year and you can get like, 30 to 40 non shitter games. Seriously. Bioshock Infinite is also free on PSN at the moment, the other Bioshocks have been previously, so I have the whole collection only having paid for Infinite when it came out. A while ago FF13 and FF13-2 were also free, both Borderlands, think the new Lara Croft is free atm, all the Little Big Planets, there was a period where ALL the FFs were free/discounted (see: Vismund, above). I got Catherine free too.

Jess, you can import them. They're region free, they're just tied to your PSN account.

You won't lose them but they will lock, the free ones anyway. The discounted ones are fine.  They're not to cloud, FYI, they're downloaded to harddrive.  Vita has a PC content manager too so if you run outta space on there, you can shuffle things to and from your PC I think. Or from your PS3/Ps4 HDD.

Your saves can go to cloud if you want them too.

Edit: Quite honestly Rekuja, I give you a month of Vita ownage before you buy a PSN+ account.

Really like the Vita. The ps+ games are usually really good, and the ps1 back catalog is sweet.

They have already been mentioned, but Gravity Rush and Soul Sacrifice. I would also say that Guacamelee is well worth it too!

Remote play is good. Been finding it really good for AC4. Didn't like it so much for FFXIV when the beta was up. But I think it will be good for crafting, and maybe some low level soloing. Didn't have a second screen option which sucked though.

I'm having a weird issue with mine.
My "near" pops up and says I've walked past someone or whatever, problem is, it's saying I live in central LA. I can't figure it out. Doesn't it run off Googlemaps? Google maps on my vita is also showing the same location as near in central LA.

So, as an aside... Did I walk near someone in LA or here?

More to the point, how do I register my location? I've made sure the clock is set to Wellington GMT and have tried it both on my home wifi and hotspotted off iPhone 3G.

Any ideas? Do yours show you as being in Nz?

Check out this fuckery. There is not one part of this conversation that isn't Full Retard.

Quote
Eduardo S.: Hi, my name is Eduardo S.. How may I help you?
 Tiger: hey
Tiger: I live in Wellington, NewZealand
Tiger: My Vita thinks I live in central LA, United States
Tiger: I can't for the life of me figure out how to change it
Tiger: I'm talking about "Near" and Google Maps
Tiger: I've tried: Checking the timezones (They're set to GMT, Wellington), I've tried hotspotting off my iphone 3g, connected it to my home router
 Tiger: Still in LA.
Eduardo S.: I see, allow me to tell you, that I'm really sorry to hear that you are having this issue, however, I will be more than happy to assist you today
 Tiger: alrighty.

Eduardo S.: Unfortunately, if in your account, the region is North America, for some weird mistake, unfortunately, the country and the region cannot be changed once the account is created.
Tiger: but it's my PSN account
Tiger: it's a New Zealand account
Eduardo S.: As I understand the time zone according to your console, is not the correct one.
Tiger: the vita? or my account?
Eduardo S.: In which part of your account, you see the different location?
Tiger: Ok lets start again I'm afraid I don't understand you
Tiger: My Vita is showing on Near and Google Maps that I live in LA, United States when really I am in Wellington, New Zealand
Tiger: It's hooked up with my PSN account, which, as far as I know, is a New Zealand account
Tiger: The Vita itself, when I set it up, got its timezones set to GMT, Wellington, New Zealand
Eduardo S.: Thanks for that, now I understand the situation, sorry for that, it was my bad.
 Tiger: ok

Eduardo S.: Allow me to ask you, have you tried to uninstall the application and re install it again?
Tiger: Can you uninstall near and googlemaps?
Tiger: they came preloaded on the vita when I bought it
Eduardo S.: Sure, if you touch and hold the application icon, you will see the option to deleted.
Tiger: and then I can redownload it from psn?
Tiger: I don't think you can delete near, just fyi
Eduardo S.: Yes, we don't need to do so, as you mention before, they are pre installed in the console.

Eduardo S.: We will try something different first, please turn off the console.
Eduardo S.: Leave it like that for 1 minute, and then turn it on.
Tiger: ok done
 Tiger: its still broken
 Tiger: now what
Eduardo S.: Let me know if is still the same. in the application.
Tiger: it still says LA, United States
Eduardo S.: Ok, we will go to the safe mode of your console, do you how to reach the safe mode?
Eduardo S.: To activate safe mode, press and hold the following buttons while it is OFF (not standby) for 5 seconds:
"R" button + PS button + Power button
Eduardo S.: And then select the option, Rebuild Database.
Tiger: that seems like a terrible idea
Tiger: will it write over my saves
Eduardo S.: No. actually this option will rebuilds user created data (lists, messages, and some other saved information).
Eduardo S.: It will restore some file settings in the system, without erase or duplicated anything.
Tiger: Google says that won't fix the location settings

Tiger: never mind. I will take it back to the shop
Eduardo S.: It has been a pleasure, I hope I have assist you today, thanks for contact PlayStation chat support, have a nice day Tiger.

THANKS FOR NOTHING, SONY.

Right.
Who has got their vita connecting remotely to their consoles outside of their home network? I am getting an error despite my ps3 being set to remote play and in standby. There is a glitch in the matrix and I will get no work done today until I fix it.

According to google, this is not uncommon. In fact, according to gamespot, Sony have quietly mentioned that vita might not play nice outside of a home network. I feel like remote play is built on a throne of lies. I don't even want to play, I just want to connect remotely and get this 2.2 patch download started.

Anyone got remote going from outside of home?
